Arugambay is situated in the Eastern seaboard of Sri Lanka and is regarded as one of the 10 best surfing destinations of the world, thus also making it an ideal place to learn surfing with many places of “surf break”. Best period for surfing here is from May to September and starting last year (2011) Tourism officials are promoting Arugambay as surfing destination, for international surfing competitors by organizing surfing competitions with the sponsorship from the Sri Lankan flag carrier.
