Day 01

  • You will be received by our chauffeur and transfer you to Habarana, 4 to 5 hours drive approximately with one two rest stops.
  • In the afternoon chill out by the pool at The Other Corner Lodge or be on your own taking local walks around the lodge.
  • Overnight stay in The Other Corner Lodge in Habarana

Day 02

  • Breakfast at the lodge
  • Take a classic and off road jeep ride with a villager/guide to explore the culture and nature in Sigiriya and Habarana areas where you would be able to visit an authentic village in the interior of Sigiriya, rice fields, vegetable fields, lakes, ancient temple, a monastery, a village blacksmith, village carpentry workshop, traditional brick makers, village vendors and walk through a forest where you could see birds, crocodiles and some local wildlife such as water buffaloes, if you are lucky even Elephants could be seen. The trip ends enjoying a home cooked rice and curry lunch at a village house. This is a very authentic trip as it does not take you to see any staged attractions or mass tourism attractions.
  • In the afternoon, have a relaxing time and have a dip in the pool at The Other Corner Lodge

Day 03

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • You will be then transferred to Polonnaruwa, approximately one hour drive from Habarana to the 2nd most ancient ruined city of Sri Lanka. You will be then cycling inside the ruined city to explore the glory of the bygone era which could be found in the archaeological treasures that still give a good idea of how the city looked in its glory days. You'll find the archaeological park a delight to explore, with hundreds of ancient structures – tombs and temples, statues and stupas.
  • In the afternoon, approximately 3 PM you will go on a safari with an experienced naturalist in Minneriya National Park to see Elephants in the wild. Minneriya is one of the best places to see large herds of Elephants in one place, especially during the months of July and August you could see many as 200 to 300 Elephants roaming in one group.

Day 04

  • Early breakfast at the lodge.
  • Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress to witness ancient architectural wonders and King Kassapa’s ruined palace and its vast gardens. The fortress complex includes miscellany of a ruined palace, surrounded by a widespread network of fortifications, enormous gardens, ponds, canals and fountains. Since 3th century BC the rocky plateau of Sigiriya served as a monastery. In the second half of the 5th century king Kasyapa decided to construct a royal residence here.
  • You will be then transferred to Kandy, the most venerated city of Sri Lanka, just 2 ½ hours approximately.
  • Visit Muththumariamman Hindu Temple in Matale on the way, the Temple is devoted to Hindu Goddess of Mariamman, the goddess of Fertility and rain.
  • You will be warmly greeted by the local family at their home stay in Kandy where you will be staying two nights to experience the true local hospitality, understand the culture of real people and the best of all, food.

Day 05

  • Breakfast at the home stay
  • Visit a local market to learn about home grown vegetables, spices and buy some ingredients. Back at the home stay, with the housewife you could take part in an traditional cooking experience and enjoy the meal you just cooked as lunch.
  • Relax in the afternoon or on your own, you may even go to Temple of Tooth Relic where Lord Buddha’s Tooth Relic now calls home at Kandy’s Royal Palace to witness centuries old rituals.
  • Take part in String hoppers or Hoppers preparation for dinner at the home stay, a fun way to learn to cook unique Sri Lankan food. Or you may even opt to do a BBQ. Enjoy your dinner with the local family.

Day 06

  • Set out to explore the sleepy village as it rises from its slumber. Be greeted by the feathered choir as they sing you a welcome song. Observe the villagers getting ready for the day and children hurrying to school. Enjoy a refreshing country walk before stopping over at the 600-year-old Ancestral Kandyan Mansion. Experience a bygone era as you walk through its corridors whilst listening to some grand stories of the past. Enjoy a refreshing cup of freshly brewed ‘green leaf porridge’ accompanied by jaggery (a sweet made from the sap of the palm tree) before commencing the expedition to “Nelli Gala” the Mountain Temple. Walk past paddy fields, spice gardens and refreshing water sprouts, before arriving at the peak that promises a 360-degree panoramic view of the mountainous Kandyan countryside. (Be prepared for a moderately strenuous climb through narrow footpaths on the way up to the mountain temple.) Be part of the morning temple rituals that fill the air with Buddhist chanting and the peeling of temple bells. After some intriguing moments filled with peace and serenity it‘s time to trek back to the home stay where a delicious freshly prepared traditional breakfast awaits to appease the hunger pangs of the returning visitors.
  • Say good bye to the local family and head towards the venerated Adam’s Peak, approximately 3 to 4 hours drive.
  • On the way, if you wish you could take part in White Water rafting boat trip in river Kelani (Optional)
  • Overnight stay at Slightly Chilled Guest House in Adam’s Peak

Day 07

  • Our specialist guide will pick you at the guest house approximately between 12 midnight to 1 AM to start the hike to Adam’s Peak. During Adam’s Peak hike you will witness centuries old pilgrimage rituals of the Buddhist people as they climb to worship Lord Buddha’s footprints at the summit. After witnessing a glorious sunrise at the summit, you will be descending to the foothills through an off the beaten path which guarantees you unseen views of the Adam’s peak and strict natural reserve through a cloud forest, distant waterfalls and tea estates.
  • After descending from Adam’s Peak summit, you will be transferred to NuwaraEliya, 2 ½ hours drive approximately.

Day 08

  • Early breakfast at the hotel
  • Transfer to Horton Plains National Park, approximately 1 ½ hours drive.
  • Take a scenic trekking trail in Horton Plains National Park to see World’s end point and Baker’s waterfall. Horton Plains National Park, once a hunting ground of British and Scottish planters, now a well preserved natural heritage site which is a bio diversity hotspot. Horton Plains is a good place to see high elevation birds, Samber Deer and this is home for elusive Leopards too but spotting them is not easy. Horton Plains is a part of Peak Wilderness Sanctuary which leads to Adam’s Peak which could be seen at a distance. Kiritgalpotta and Thotupola Kanda mountains, 2nd and 3rd highest mountains of Sri Lanka are at the Horton Plains and four of the major rivers of Sri Lanka starts from Horton Plains.
  • You will be then driven to remote hamlet of Ohiya where you will get onboard the scenic train to Ella. Enjoy the scenery along the way.

Day 09

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Spend a relaxing morning at the guest house or on your own wandering in local areas in Ella such as 9 Arch Bridge built by the British’s during their colonial time.
  • Hike to Little Adam’s Peak in the afternoon. Little Adam’s Peak is a nice and not so hard trek about 2 hours both ways to a nice mountain peak which greets you with jaw dropping views.
  • Overnight stay Waterfall Home Stay in Ella

Day 10

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Tuk Tuk ride and trek in a Tea estate in Bandarawela and visit Lipton’s Seat. 45 minutes drive from Ella is Bandarawela where you will be taking part in an adventurous Tuk Tuk ride in a Tea estate followed by an estate walk and visit to Lipton’s seat where Sir Thomas Lipton used to watch at his Tea Empire is another nice experience when in Ella.
  • Transfer to Yala, approximately 2 ½ hours drive.
  • Go on a traditional catamaran trip with a local fisherman in Yala in a lake for fishing in traditional way using nets and wooden stick rods.
  • Outdoor BBQ dinner with amidst a campfire, freshly caught fish during the fishing trip will be cooked and served as dinner.
  • Overnight stay in an air conditioned tent at Yala Adventure Lodge

Day 11

  • Morning guided safari in Yala National Park to see Leopards, Bears and Elephants. Yala National Park is one of the best places in the world to see the elusive Leopards. Yala is the most popular national park in Sri Lanka due to very high Leopards density.
  • On return after the safari in Yala, enjoy a hearty breakfast at the camp.
  • You will be then transferred to Talalla, a small coast village in south of Sri Lanka for a relaxing beach escape.
  • Afternoon relax by the beach.

Day 12

  • Breakfast the hotel
  • Full day relax by the beach. Enjoy the sun, get that tan you could be proud when back in home.

  • Breakfast the hotel
  • Transfer to Galle, 1 hour drive approximately.
  • Explore the Dutch Fort of Galle, built by Portuguese and later occupied by the Dutch. This is an architectural masterpiece and you could see some of the remnants of Dutch era buildings such as Churches and maritime museum. There are very interesting cafes and restaurants where you could try some best food.
  • Transfer to Airport for departure, 2 ½ hours drive approximately
  • See you soon, have a safe flight back home.
