Welcome to Sri Lanka. On your arrival our representative will receive you in Colombo International Airport and transfer you to Negombo, just 20 minutes from the airport, Negombo is a coastal town popular for its beach, fishing villages and seaside restaurants. On day two, you will be picked up by our specialist cycling guide in Negombo for a cycling tour to explore Negombo's fishing villages, markets, Catholic churches, Buddhist Temples, Hindu Temples and typical residential areas. Negombo is home many remnants of Dutch influence from Churches to historical Dutch buildings to Dutch canal. You will be staying two nights in Negombo at a 3 star hotel on the beach, most of the time relaxing by the beach.
On day three we drive to Sigiriya for a cultural experience, one of the most important cultural town of Cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. When in Sigiriya you will be staying in an eco and rustic Tree House Lodge situated 7 kms off the grid from the hustle and bustle of the towns. This Tree House Eco Lodge is a pure nature retreat for the nature enthusiasts. After some relaxation, you will be cycling to Sigiriya Rock Fortress through the rural villages and farming fields. Park your cycles and explore Sigiriya Rock Fortress with a specialist guide and cycle back to Tree House Eco Lodge after a refreshing King Coconut drink. You could also visit the cultural site of Polonnaruwa to explore it by Cycles followed by an afternoon safari with an experienced naturalist to see Elephants in the wild. We then go for a very off the beaten walking experience in the jungles of Habarana with an experienced naturalist to see some local wildlife such as bathing Buffaloes in lakes, birds and you may even encounter with Elephants. Habarana jungle walk will be ended on a scenic rock cliff with a panoramic view of the jungle. A sun downer will be arranged with local snacks to go with local cocktails.
Our next stop will be Kandy, culturally important town in Sri Lanka and is the most visited town of Sri Lanka by the travelers where Lord Buddha's Tooth Relic now calls home. You will be staying at a home stay in Kandy with a local family where you would be able to experience authentic/non commercial hospitality of locals. In the afternoon witness Kandy Cultural show with traditional dancers followed by visit to Temple of Tooth Relic during the evening sermon to observe centuries old rituals of fellow locals.
An experienced trekking guide, a villager will take you for 1 night and 2 days trekking trip to Knuckles mountains range and the rural villages in the foothills of Knuckles where you will be staying in a basic mobile camp in the Knuckles mountains. Highlight will be the hike to Knuckles mountains peak through Kandyan home gardens, tea plantation, waterfalls and streams through to montane cloud forest in the summit of Knuckles Mountains.
After returning from Knuckles mountains, spend a relaxing afternoon at the home stay in Kandy, in the afternoon visit a traditional local bakery with the host of at the home stay to buy bread for your dinner at the home stay. At the bakery you could try making your own buns or bread. Staying at Kandy Home Stay is a good cultural experience.
Then we drive to Kitulgala, adventure capital of Sri Lanka where river Kelani flows down through winding countryside where you could take an adrenaline rushed White Water Rafting experience. This is one of the highlights of the trip. You will be served a freshly cooked Rice and Curry Lunch before heading further up country to Nuwara Eliya, the Tea capital of Sri Lanka just for 1 night stay at a 3 star hotel in Nuwara Eliya Town.
Another very unique and off the beaten walk from Nuwara Eliya to Ella within a cause of 1 night and 2 days is about to begin. During this walk, you will be hiking to Mount Kirigalpoththa, 2nd the highest mountain peak of Sri Lanka where the foothill is situated in Horton Plains National Park. This is a very important bio diversity hot spot in Sri Lanka and you could see many Samber Deer and birds. Reaching the peak is very challenging but it brings you some jaw dropping views of the mountains and valleys on a clear day. After a challenging hike, you will be taken to a simple remote lodge for overnight stay where you will be entertained by locals as they sing Tamil songs.
On day 11 you will be trekking through Sri Lanka’s some of the very remotest tea estate villages where you could interact with ethnic Tamil villagers. The scenery during this trek is breathtaking and your destination is Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall, Bambarakanda Waterfall where you could have a refreshing dip and enjoy a picnic lunch. You will be then driven to Ella for an overnight stay. You will be staying two nights in a fine boutique hotel with jaw dropping views of Ella Gap. After a sometime relaxing at the resort or chilling out by the pool, you could walk to less challenging Little Adam’s Peak or arduous Ella Rock for some breathtaking views. We recommend that you explore Ella on your own, at your own pace.
Get on board the scenic train from Ella to Hatton where you stay two nights in a simple guest house in Nallathanniya, at the foothill of Adam's Peak and hike to Adam's Peak very early in the morning to witness the sunrise from the summit of Adam's Peak while you immerse in cultural rituals of worshiping Lord Buddha's footprints at the summit of Adam's Peak. When you descend, take the off the beaten path through the jungle, tea plantation crossing ice cold streams. During descend through off the beaten path you will be able to see some rare views of the Adam's Peak. Once you descend, have a good rest before starting another adventure by cycles.
You will be starting a cycling trip all the way to south coast on this day cycling through the hill country of Dickoya cycling along Castlereigh reservoir surrounding Adam’s Peak staying overnight in Dickoya at a colonial planters bungalow.
Cycle route goes through some of the very scenic and rural countryside from Dickoya to Belihuloya where you stay two nights in an eco hotel in Belihuloya. When in Belihuloya, trek through remote villages in Belihuloya followed by a very scenic Canoeing trip in Samanalawewa Reservoir.
On this day, cycle from Belihuloya to Wellawaya, near Udawalawe NP where you will be staying in a very remote farming field for a yet another off the beaten experience. Wellawaya is a very rural agricultural area which is an Elephant Cross road between Yala and Lunugamwehere national parks. The farm field is situated 10 kms off the grid of the main town and is surrounded by lush wilderness and lakes where Elephants come for water. You could see Elephants when in the farm field at the comfort of your bed. The host will take you for a very authentic wildlife safari at the backyard of the farm field to see Elephants in their utmost natural habit. This will be a unique safari experience where you would be able to see the Elephants without any crowds or other jeeps, a private show. You will be served a sun downer on the rock cliff while you observe the Elephants.
Canoeing in the lake in a traditional catamaran, go fishing local style and cooking a traditional meal with the staff are some of the activities you could take part when at the farm stay. Last night at the farm stay, the staff will serve you a nice BBQ dinner amidst a roaring camp fire.
On this day you will be cycling from Wellawaya through very scenic lowland countryside all the way to southern coastal town of Mirissa where you stay for 1 night. A boat trip in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Mirissa will encounter you with the Blue Whales, the gentle giants of the Ocean. Stay overnight at a fine boutique hotel in Mirissa Beach.
It is time to cycle the last leg of the trip from Mirissa to historical town of Galle through the interior countryside of Mirissa and Galle where you would be able to explore southern villages, paddy fields, various plantation fields, lagoons, temples and people before taking a leisurely stroll in Galle Dutch Fort.
We will then transfer you to Negombo, for the last night in Sri Lanka staying at a 3 star beach hotel, closer to Colombo International Airport. Sri Lanka part of an experiential adventure holiday has comes to an end.
On day 22 you will be flown to Male, the capitol of Maldives, just 1 hour flight from Colombo International Airport. Upon arrival, our representative will transfer you to a residential Island for a guest house stay in the Maldives. This residential Island boasts a million dollar beach and shallow reef with crystal clear water which is almost like a swimming pool throughout the year. Explore the colourfull marine life in the reef just by walking to the beach, it is a house reef.
Diving with Manta Ray, Deep sea fishing trips, Island hopping, sand dune picnics or even romantic candlelit dinner by the beach are some of the experiences you could take on when in this residential Island with the locals.
