Day 01 - The Pekoe Trail Stages 10 and 11 (Partially) Horton Plains to Ohiya

You will be met by our guide at 6 AM in Nuwara Eliya and transfer you to Horton Plains National Park, an hour away. Here, you’ll start your trekking tour along The Pekoe Trail, covering stages 10 and 11, partially.

This trekking tour takes you through the misty, high-altitude plains of Horton Plains and descends through dense forests towards Ohiya. With an elevation gain of approximately 200 meters and a descent of 300 meters, the trek offers stunning landscapes, from rolling grasslands to cloud forests.

Enjoy picnic meals along the trekking tour before reaching Ohiya, where you’ll spend the night in a small mountain lodge.

Day 02 - The Pekoe Trail - Stage 12 from Ohiya to Haputale

After breakfast, continue your trekking tour along The Pekoe Trail with stage 12, trekking from Ohiya to Haputale. This stage involves an elevation gain of 400 meters and a descent of 600 meters, taking you through tea plantations, mist-covered valleys, rail roads and tunnels and dense forests. The trail offers panoramic views of the southern plains and distant mountains.

Enjoy a picnic lunch en route before arriving in Haputale, where you’ll stay in a small guesthouse.

Day 03 - The Pekoe Trail - Stage 13 from Haputale to St. Catherine estate

Start your day with a hearty breakfast before trekking on stage 13 of The The Pekoe Trail, trekking from Haputale to St. Catherine Estate. This stage involves an elevation gain of 300 meters and a descent of 500 meters, leading you through lush tea estates and remote villages. The trekking tour offers a unique glimpse into the lives of the local tea pluckers and the beautiful landscapes they call home.

After completing the trek, you’ll be driven to Bandarawela for an overnight stay in a local homestay, where you’ll learn to cook a traditional Sri Lankan meal for dinner.

Day 04 - The Pekoe Trail - Stage 15 from Makulella to Ella

Your final day of the Active Adventure tour in Sri Lanka begins with a warm breakfast before you set out on stage 15 of The Pekoe Trail trekking tour in Sri Lanka, trekking from Makulella to Ella, via the famous Ella Rock. This stage, with an elevation gain of 250 meters and a descent of 450 meters, takes you through scenic tea country, dense forests, and quaint villages.

The trek concludes in Ella.

Witness breathtaking bird’s-eye views of Nuwara Eliya, Lake Gregory, and the surrounding tea plantations. Experience the beauty of Sri Lanka’s hill country as we climb through emerald tea plantations to reach the summit. Along the way, immerse yourself in the local culture, meeting tea plantation workers and exploring the highest village in Sri Lanka. After the trek, hop on a scenic train ride from Nanuoya Railway Station to Ohiya, followed by a short tuk-tuk ride to the lodge, where we'll spend the night.

The Single Tree Mountain hike in Nuwara Eliya involves an elevation gain of approximately 200 to 300 meters. The starting point is usually around 1,800 meters above sea level, and the summit of Single Tree Hill is around 2,100 meters. The elevation loss during the descent would be the same, making it a moderately challenging Trekking Tour.
